KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 ― Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said he will leave it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate allegations that he built a RM5.5 million house in Negri Sembilan.

The Inspector-General of Police suggested, however, that his accuser ― anti-crime group MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Seri Sanjeevan ― may have ulterior motives in making the claim.

“He seems to be angry with me for all the charges he is facing and putting the blame on me for what happened to him.

“I will not respond to his demands and since he has lodged a report with MACC, I will leave it to the agency to conduct investigations,” he was quoted saying to local daily New Straits Times (NST).

According to NST, Sanjeevan yesterday lodged a report with the MACC and claimed to have evidence showing that the house in Mantin, Negri Sembilan was allegedly paid for by the heads of illegal gambling syndicates.

Sanjeevan reportedly asked Khalid to provide clarification on the matter.

Sanjeevan has this year been charged several times in court over alleged extortion, employment of illegal foreign workers, cheating by claiming to have UK degrees in order to be engaged as a business consultant.

In the latest case on October 27, Sanjeevan was charged with insulting Khalid through a Facebook account.

Sanjeevan is still facing trial for the various charges and has yet to be convicted.
