KEPALA BATAS, Sept 4 — Malaysians planning to visit the Philippines should contact Wisma Putra and the Malaysian embassy in Manila to know about the latest situation in the country, said Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

The call comes in the wake of explosion that rocked Roxas Street, Davao City, on Friday, which left 14 people dead and 24 injured.

Reezal Merican said the ministry had already issued a statement on the incident and currently was monitoring closely the security level in the republic.

“Davao was formerly known as the safest place in the Philippines, but now we cannot guarantee that such incidents will not happen,”

“Therefore, I urge all Malaysians to be more careful,” he told reporters after launching the “One Community, One Road Transport Department (JPJ) programme, here today.

Yesterday, the ministry had confirmed there no Malaysians were affected in in the incident. — Bernama
