ISKANDAR PUTERI, Jan 25 — Members of the public need not worry about their safety throughout the Malaysian Monsoon Cup championship as the level of security control is at its best. 

In giving the assurance, Johor Police Chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the police had made careful preparation in ensuring that every aspect of security was at the best level. 

“We have ensured that all aspects of security, including at sea and in the air, are in the best situation. 

“Thus, the public can come feeling at ease to observe the international competition,” Wan Ahmad Najmuddin told reporters at the Puteri Harbour marina, Iskandar Puteri, here today.

He said 22 officers and 207 other ranks from the various units would be on duty to ensure security throughout the championship was in the best situation. 

The units included the Air Operations Unit, Special Action Unit, Federal Reserve Unit and the Marine Operations Force. 

The 11th edition of the Malaysian Monsoon Cup will be held at the Puteri Harbour Marina, the second time it was being held in Johor beginning today until Jan 30.

The championship here is the last venue for the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) involving more than 15 championships held in France, Germany, Switzerland and Portugal.

Besides Malaysia, 11 teams including three new ones will compete in the championship this time around. — Bernama
