SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Selangor police have launched Ops Cantas Khas to hunt for the suspects behind the double murder of a 30-month-old toddler, R. Nisha and her father, S. Ravichandran, 42, in Semenyih last Thursday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said although no arrests have been made, police believe they are closing in on the suspects.
“We are looking at a spat between gangs and revenge as the motive behind the murder.
“We have already interviewed several people close to the victim (father) to check on his background,” he said.
Abdul Samah said they have received a lead and were confident that arrests will be made soon.
On the possibility of the incident sparking revenge executions in Klang and Banting similar to the incidents related to the murder of a gang leader in February, Abdul Samah said: “To prevent that, we have launched special operations in and around Semenyih.”
Nisha was hit in the head by a bullet that was meant for her father and died on the spot in the incident.
Ravichandran was carrying his daughter when the suspects pulled up in a car and opened fire at close range.
Ravichandran, was hit by three bullets and succumbed to his injuries after almost a week in coma.
