PASIR PUTEH, Oct 9 — ‘Eat plenty of fruits, it’s the Sunnah of the Prophet.’ Those were the last words of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) professor to his wife before he died in a fatal road crash, which occurred at 8.45pm at KM13.5 Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, here yesterday.

Rini Shaharizah Mohamad, 39, said she received the last message from her husband, Prof Dr Mohamad Suhaily Yusri Che Ngah, 42, via WhatsApp, asking her to eat lots of fruit as she is almost three-month pregnant.

“This is my fourth pregnancy and I often vomiting (due to morning sickness),” she told reporters when met at her husband’s family’s house in Kampung Wakaf Bunut, here today.

Mohamad Suhaily, who was UPSI ResQ Disaster Committee chairman and was actively involved in helping the construction of houses for flood victims in Kelantan, was scheduled to attend the handing over ceremony of 11 houses for flood victims in Kampung Lakloh, Kuala Krai tomorrow.

The professor, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, was heading to Kampung LakLoh, Kuala Krai, from Gua Musang when his machine collided with a Toyota Hilux and a Proton Saga car.

Rini Shaharizah said during the incident, she and her three children Adranuar Deena, 5, Aafreen Diyanah, 10, and Aidid Denis, 13 were in Tanjung Malim, Perak.

She said, before her husband left, he was cheerful as he was very excited to accomplish his mission to help flood victims.

According to her, Mohamad Suhaily seemed satisfied to be able to provide aid to victims in Kelantan affected by floods in December last year.

Mohamad Suhaily was laid to rest at the Kampung Kok Jering Muslim cemetery, here. — Bernama
