KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — The air quality in 18 areas in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak worsened this evening as compared to this morning.
According to the portal of the Department of Environment DOE), at 2pm, Bukit Rambai, Melaka still had the highest API (Air Pollutants Index) reading at 170, followed by Melaka City (167), Banting (162), Port Dickson (156), Nilai (155) and Seremban (151).
Other areas with unhealthy air quality were Port Klang with the API reading at 151, Muar (147), Putrajaya (151), Shah Alam (146), Petaling Jaya (141), Batu Muda (126), Cheras (122), Samarahan (117), Kuching (114), Pasir Gudang (106), Sri Aman (104) and Kuala Selangor (104).
Meanwhile, Larkin Lama and Sarikei were among areas recording moderate API, at 97 and 96 respectively.
Other areas having moderate API readings included Sibu (92), Universiti Sains Malaysia (90), Kg. Air Putih, Taiping (89), Kota Tinggi (83), Bintulu (88) and Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (87).
An API of between 0 and 50 is good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200(not healthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 upwards (dangerous).
