GEORGE TOWN, April 6 — Police detained a group of motorcycle-snatch thieves within eight hours after snatching a 64-year-old restaurant owner’s necklace at Jalan Tanjung Tokong, here last Wednesday.
The notorious group, comprising three men, had caused multiple injuries to the helpless victim when she was dragged several meters after falling down before the assailants escaped with her valuable necklace.
Northeast District Police Chief, ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said in a quick response, a police team managed to detain the three suspects, aged between 23 and 29, in Butterworth, Permatang Pauh and Kubang Semang here.
He said following the arrests and loot recovered, police believe 30 robbery and snatch theft cases in the district recently, could be solved.
Mior said police had also seized a Honda Jazz car, two motorcycles, three helmets and RM20,052 cash from the group that is believed to have been active in Penang and Parit Buntar as well as Bagan Serai in Perak, for about a year. — Bernama
