KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Three men, including two civil servants, and an underaged girl were arrested last Saturday for committing extortion and robbery targeted at Casanovas.

Sentul District Police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the two civil servants in their 30s, a man in his 40s and the underaged girl, aged 17, were detained in two separate locations around Kuala Lumpur after the police received a report from one of their victims on February 19.

He said the gang used the girl, who is the girlfriend to one of the suspects, to ensnare their victims who were duped into having sex with the underaged girl in any hotels or guesthouses, he said.

"After the victim is inside the room, they will later come in and extort money from their victims and robbed them.

"So far, the police received only one report about the gang's activities but we believed they are involved in three other separate cases which have not been reported by other victims," he told a news conference here today.

Munusamy said according to the victim who made the police report, he met the girl in a pub in Jalan Ipoh and took her to a hotel in Kepong Baru and about 6 am, she told him she agreed in having sex with her.

"But, at 7.15 am one of the men knocked the room door, came inside and showed a red card and identified himself as a police personnel, moments later, the other two suspects joined in and hit the victim, one of them alleged the girl is his sister and told him to pay RM2,000 as a compensation," he said.

During the commotion, the other two suspects took all of the victim's belongings, including his BMW car, which was eventually found in one of the suspects' house after they were arrested, he said.

Apart from the four suspects, Munusamy said the police were searching for another suspect who was also involved in the gang-robbery.

Based on police records, only one of the suspects had past criminal record, he said.

Meanwhile, in another unrelated case, he said a man, aged 58, was arrested in a raid at a Hindu temple, located at the former site of the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) Railway quarters in Sentul Pasar, for possessing cannabis.

"A total of 70 small packets of cannabis weighing 658 grams were also seized from the suspect, who is believed trying to distribute it during the raid," he said.

The man was later screened positive for THC (etrahydrocannabinol) drug and was now placed under remand.

The case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act because the suspect had also tested positive for drugs, Munusamy said. — Bernama
