SHAH ALAM, Dec 10 — The man suspected of gunning down Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) head of enforcement Ahmad Rafli Abdul Malek has been identified.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police have obtained positive leads.
He said ballistics had established that the gun seized during the arrest of 13 Tuhan Harun members recently was used to kill Ahmad Rafli on November 10.
Khalid was speaking to reporters at the annual auxiliary police meeting in Shah Alam yesterday.
He said the hunt for the 10 followers of the cult group was ongoing and believed they were in the country.
Ahmad Rafli, 49, was shot dead at his house in Indera Mahkota 2, Kuantan, after a man wearing a skullcap and dressed in black had visited his home. He was involved in carrying out operations to ensure deviant teachings did not spread in Pahang.
On November 20, Tuhan Harun cult leader Harun Mat Saad was arrested with two other suspects following raids on two separate locations in Tangkak, Johor. Nine days later, 13 Tuhan Harun members were detained.
Khalid said the members were not only responsible for planning and carrying out the shooting of Ahmad Rafi, but were also in the middle of planning more killings as well.
