MALACCA, Nov 22 — Malacca police are looking for four men to assist in the investigation into two robbery cases where the robbers who preyed on foreign workers, had posed as policemen and Immigration officers.

State CID chief, ACP Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said the four men, believed to be locals, aged between 26 and 32, had used this modus operandi to carry out investigation at the victims’ house before tying up and robbing them.

He said in the first reported case at an apartment unit in Bachang Jaya on Wednesday, the victims were five Indonesian women aged 25 to 32, who lost valuables worth RM6,000 to the robbers.

“The women were at home when four men in plainclothes came to their unit, claiming to be policemen and wanting to do a urine test on them before tying up and locking them in a room.

“The four imposters then took away five cell phones, a gold chain and a ring from the victims, who are factory workers, before fleeing in a white Proton Wira,” he said.

In the second robbery incident at 9.25pm on the same day, the same men were believed to have posed as Immigration officers and pretending to carry out investigation before tying up and robbing seven Indonesian men at a house in Taman Muzaffar Syah, Ayer Keroh, here.

“The robbers fled with 12 cellphones valued at RM14,000 and cash of about RM1,000 belonging to the victims,” said Raja Shahrom, adding that no victim was reported to have been injured in both incidents.

The two cases are being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and Section 170 for posing as public servants.

Members of the public with information on the four men are urged to come forward and assist in the investigation. — Bernama
