PORT KLANG, Nov 18 — Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today said the ministry hoped to table the problem of traffic summons issued under the Automated Enforcement System (AES) to the Economic Council chaired by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, by next week.
It was previously reported that the issue would be brought to the Cabinet and the slight delay for the problem to be heard was for the ministry to decide which suitable platform to get a decision on the issue, he told reporters after launching four Northport (Malaysia) Bhd new quay cranes here, today.
On September 18, this year the AES Implementation Steering Committee agreed to reduce the compound rate to a minimum of RM150 from the RM300 previously.
Hishammuddin (picture) said through the council, the ministry would table the traffic summons issue and find a solution on how to deal with those who have paid the full RM300 for their traffic offences before Sept 18.
“We were convened to re-look at the AES by the Economic Council chaired by the prime minister himself,” he said.
Besides the traffic summons issue, he said the ministry would bring the issue on how to coordinate the role of police with the Road Transport Department and to ensure all the relevant law was complied. — Bernama
