SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 — A sum of RM37.9 million has been allocated to carry out five main flood-mitigation projects in the Klang district, said Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
He said the state Drainage and Irrigation Department would be monitoring the implementation of the projects aimed at solving the problem of frequent flooding in several areas in the district.
Out of the RM37.9 million allocation for the projects, RM25.5 million comes from the federal government and RM12.4 million from the Selangor government.
“Some of the projects are expected to be ready by mid-2014 and the rest by April 2015,” Abdul Khalid (picture) said after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting, here, today.
On claims that the Selangor government would be reducing the development allocation by RM100 million under the state’s 2014 Budget scheduled to be tabled next Tuesday, he said the budget could not be divulged yet. — Bernama
