KOTA BARU, Oct 7 — The Kelantan government has set up a special team to solve a backlog of 48,000 land application cases, the State Assembly was told today.
Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the backlog was due to a big number of applications while the approval process was slow due to the procedure adhered to.
The Kuala Krai District has the biggest number of backlog cases at 20,927, he said when replying to Rohani Ibrahim (PAS-Tanjong Mas).
Mohd Amar, who is also State Regional Development, Land, Investment and Natural Resources Committee chairman, said so far 72,000 cases had been solved.
To a question from Datuk Ramzi Abdul Rahman (BN-Dabong), he said the special team would be beefed up should the need arise.
Meanwhile, State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood said so far 4,113 affordable houses had been built in Kelantan.
In principle, the state government wants to build affordable houses in all districts, but the plan has yet to materialise, he said to a question from Rozi Muhamad (PAS-Tendong). — Bernama
