NEW YORK, Dec 20 — Make-up artist Bobbi Brown is leaving her eponymous brand after 25 years, WWD reported today.
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, which is owned by beauty giant Estée Lauder Companies, will continue to exist but Brown is expected to leave the company by the end of the year.
Estee Lauder Companies confirmed the news in a statement, adding that global brand president Peter Lichtenthal will continue to oversee the business.
“I am thankful for the extraordinary people that I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years and proud of the creative endeavours and innovative products we’ve created together,” Brown stated, according to WWD.
“And the Lauder family, for the many opportunities they gave me.”
Brown’s next steps are as yet unknown, but in the statement released today, she hinted that her brand’s 25th anniversary was a milestone “that made me realise it was time to start a new chapter and move on to new ventures”.
Whatever those new ventures may be, we’re sure the beauty world will be eagerly awaiting them.
After getting her start as a makeup artist on both editorial shoots and backstage at runway shows in the 1980s, Brown founded her eponymous cosmetics line in 1991, after she found herself on a quest to create lipstick that was flattering for all skin tones.
Brown became a household name and eventually sold her company to Estée Lauder in 1995, though she remained closely involved with its operations.
