For sculptor Adam Kitingan, his secret crack is blobs of silicone crafted into patterns and shapes, some resembling twisted human figures and some bizarre shapes.

As for Aliff Ahmad, his would be revisiting what was long forgotten through surreal paintings of fishes on incongruous backdrops.

Over at Hin Bus Depot Art Centre, 16 young Malaysian artists showcased their “secret crack” in a joint collaborative art exhibition between Kuala Lumpur-based artist collective The Secret Hideout (TSH) and Sabah-based Cracko Art Group (CAG).

Titled “The Secret Crack”, the exhibition is a feature of over 50 artworks by the artists, some of whom are new to the art industry.

One of the artists, Libby Illyas shared how TSH and CAG artists would have “street bombing sessions” where they walk through alleys at night in search of sites to “bomb” with their street art.

Her works are whimsical caricatures, including one of a four-cent note from the era of of The State of North Borneo.

Engku Iman, on the other hand, expresses her sardonic humor through her art, particularly one of a framed photograph of Altantuya Shaariibuu and long black hair trailing out of the frame.

Bibichun, who had participated in Hin Bus Depot’s previous exhibition, Urban Exchange, is back with more of her tongue-in-cheek works, one poking fun at Malay’s aversion to dogs.

The exhibition is a medley of different styles and diverse disciplines and mediums that ranged from serious contemplative pieces to interesting street art.
