LONDON, Nov 27 — The chef of one of the most popular dining addresses among young urban Parisians, Le Chateaubriand, has announced plans to open a London outpost of his trendy restaurant next year.

Chef Inaki Aizpitarte, who in recent years became a darling of the Parisian dining scene for leading the ‘bistronomy’ movement of casual but innovative, no-tablecloth bistro cooking, has chosen to open his first restaurant outside France in London, just over two hours away by train.

Le Chateaubriand is currently ranked No. 27 on Restaurant magazine’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, for its “democratic and gutsy” cuisine.

According to Bloomberg, the London restaurant will open in the poshest area of the city, Mayfair, under the name Le Chabanais, named after an infamous 19th century luxurious Paris brothel.

Like its Parisian predecessor, Le Chabanais will be informal, serving a menu that changes daily, inspired by local, seasonal ingredients.

Set to open in February or March of next year, tasting menus will be priced at about £80 (about RM423).

In an interview with Bloomberg, Aizpitarte said he’s a big fan of the city and its culinary scene, and pointed out that he chose London because of its proximity.

When he opens Le Chabanais in London next year, Aizpitarte will join fellow countrymen Claude Bosi of Hibiscus, Alexis Gauthier of Gauthier Soho and Michel Roux Jr. at Le Gavroche who helm some of the hottest French restaurants and dining addresses in the city. — AFP-Relaxnews
