NEW YORK, Jan 19 — Capcom’s monster-hunting romp Dragon’s Dogma is warmly welcomed on PC, ARK: Survival Evolved benefits from a short sale, and an industrious dung beetle makes an impression.
Released on consoles back in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma was received as Capcom’s attempt to combine elements from its own Monster Hunter and action-oriented Devil May Cry series, as well as other hits like medieval-themed Dark Souls and epic-scale Shadow of the Colossus, with large opponents to clamber up and an unusual twist on co-operative multiplayer.
An improved version was repackaged as Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, and it’s that which has now been launched on PC, establishing itself in the upper echelons of Steam, GameStop, and GamersGate charts come January 18.
Concurrently, a pre-order campaign for The Division bears fruit on Steam even as enthusiasts make detailed inspections of new preview videos in comparison with perhaps too-ambitious projections from the game’s 2013 announcement.
Also proving popular have been dinosaur-era survival sandbox ARK on the Humble Store, and the whimsical, enchanting adventurers of a dirt-collecting bug in The Travels of the Dung Beetle on Itchio, whose creator is, as it turns out, a storyboard artist on Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears.
