KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Those hoping for Hong Kong actress Rosemund Kwan to make a comeback to the silver screen are in for a disappointment.

The 60-year-old said she would not return to acting as she cannot memorise the script.

Kwan started her acting career in ATV soap opera Agency 24 before moving on to movies. However, she said she would still go to cinemas to support Hong Kong-made movies, Ming Pao reported.

She was speaking to the media at an event to promote the auction of her jewellery pieces, of which proceeds would be donated to charity.

Previously known as "Hong Kong’s number one beauty”, the twice-married Kwan retired from showbiz in 2007. She also told reporters that besides investing in businesses, she now continues to exercise and pick up new skills.

"Since I stopped acting, I have learned other things which I had no time to do previously," she said, adding that she was now learning flower arrangement.

It was previously reported that she was auctioning over RM58 million worth of jewellery from her private collection. One of the most expensive pieces is a 12.64 carat ruby and diamond ring from Boghossian which is estimated to cost between RM13 million and RM20.8 million.

The auction, to be held on November 28, is expected to raise at least HK$1 billion (RM599 million).

As to why she decided to auction her jewellery, Kwan said it was to commemorate her birthday, which she celebrated on September 24.
