NEW YORK, Dec 23 — Justin Bieber’s album “Purpose” has become the pop artist’s fifth album to sell over a million copies in the United States.
Billboard reports that Bieber’s latest album sold an additional 100,000 copies in the US last week, bringing the total to 1.01 million.
It only took five weeks for the album to hit the 1 million mark.
The pop artist’s other albums to surpass 1 million in sales include: “Believe” (1.61 million), “Under the Mistletoe” (1.51 million) and “My World” (2.08 million).
By far his largest selling album so far is” My World 2.0”, which has sold 3.33 million copies.
Not many musicians can boast such figures in sales. According to Billboard, in 2015 only two other albums have surpassed the 1 million mark in the United States.
Drake’s “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” has sold 1.12 million copies so far this year.
But Adele’s “25” has far outsold the other two, reaching a total of 5.98 million this year.
The rating company Nielsen reports that the album sold 3.38 million copies in the US its first week alone, setting a new single week sales record. — AFP-Relaxnews
