LOS ANGELES, July 22 ― Leonardo DiCaprio is apparently on the brink of declaring legal war after a signed photo of himself and the former South African president, the late Nelson Mandela popped up in an online auction.
It may seem like signed photos going to auction is a relatively normal thing to happen to A-list stars, however this case is different because Leo didn't even know the photo existed, not to mention it was addressed to him personally.
The photo, which was taken while Leo was filming “Blood Diamond” in 2006 is reportedly being sold for US$25,000 (RM79,312), and there's an inscription in the top right corner that reads “To Leo DiCaprio, Best Wishes, Mandela, 4-8-07”.
Although the photo is clearly addressed to the famed actor, he claims he's never even seen it, and is determined to own, what is rightfully his, however, the auction house claim that they own the rights to the image.
All this means that there could well be a very expensive legal battle ahead for DiCaprio, and he's likely to spare no expense on lawyer fees. ― Cover Media
