BEIJING, May 15 — Two Chinese companies are investing in MBits Digital Sdn Bhd for the development and deployment of Malaysia's digital infrastructure.

MBits Digital yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China's PowerChina Co Ltd and Longvision Media Co Ltd as strategic partners with a total investment of US$1.6 billion (RM6.95 billion).

MBits Digital chairman Sara Nattaya said the investment was for the development of the Digital One Belt, One Road Project, a hybrid hub, providing Malaysia a digital route to globalisation.

MBits “eco-system” comprises an Application Entertainment & Broadcasting Platform, Design & Build Smart Infrastructure and Deployments, Mobile & Cloud services and Smart Township Developments, she said.

The Digital One Belt One Road Project focuses on developing digital Infrastructure from fibre optics, smart developments, entertainment and mobile & cloud Services.

Sara said MBits Digital was glad to have the support of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at a brief meeting with officials of the two Chinese partners yesterday.

Also present were Finas Chairman Datuk Khusairi Talib, ChinaPower Convice chairman Xu Hao and LongVision Media chairman Yan Ge. — Bernama
