KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — Datuk Ibrahim Ali today called P. Waytha Moorthy a “pig” as he accused the minister of being anti-Malay at the group’s annual general assembly here.

The insult was among a slew of allegations and criticism Ibrahim hurled against the former Hindu rights activist during the meeting, where Perkasa tabled a resolution urging Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to sack the minister.

In an enraged speech, the group’s founder and president called the minister in the prime minister’s department a closet racist who wants to destroy key Malay institutions.

“This Indian Waytha Moorthy, who do you think prompted the Indian government to issue a statement and in the statement they said they were concerned by the deaths of women and children?” Ibrahim said.

“There must be a traitor who spread the lie and who else?

B*bi menteri ni (a bloody pig this minister),” he added.

Waytha Moorthy had come under heavy criticism over a video that showed him accusing the Malaysian government of committing genocide against ethnic Indians when he was in Europe.

That video, however, was purportedly recorded ten years ago. Waytha Moorthy said he had apologised since.

Despite the issue being old, Malay rights groups continue to hound the former Hindu rights activist and has since made him the chief target of its protest against the International Convention for Elimination of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) treaty.

Nativist groups claimed the treaty will open the backdoor to abolishing Malay privileges. They have labelled it as anti-Malay alongside Waytha Moorthy, the minister overseeing the ratification process.

The Pakatan Harapan government has said it would not sign the treaty for now following strong backlash from conservative Malays.

But that has not stop nativists from wanting to draw blood.

Perkasa today tabled among others a resolution to demand Waytha Moorthy’s sacking, and Ibrahim had earlier warned that the organisation will “take the law into its own hands” if the government does not heed its demands.

“Don’t stir the hornet’s nest... or we will run amok everywhere,” he said.

Racial tension have escalated in recent months as conservatives push back against the newly elected administration’s political reform drive to give minorities more civil and economic rights.

Perkasa, known for its vocalness, has been silent amid the quagmire. But today Ibrahim said the organisation will begin mobilising support, even as the anger around ICERD appeared to have died down.

“We have been quiet and all I’ve done is to observe,” he said before a silent crowd.

“But no more. Enough is enough. The time for patience is no more,” he added.
