KUALA LANGAT, May 1 — Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today promised low-cost flats and a village for Indians in Kuala Langat should Barisan Nasional win Selangor in GE14.

Speaking during a working trip here, Ahmad Zahid said that BN needs to “retain its dignity” in Kuala Langat after losing the Parliament and also all state seats here in the 2013 elections.

“I promise, if we win, I will come back here in 120 days after the election, to personally make sure the low-cost flats are built here,” Zahid said, referring to a vacant plot of land at Carey Island, which has a sizeable Orang Asli population.

He also said that he would discuss with Sime Darby Plantations to make sure there is an Indian village in Kuala Langat to help Indians who are displaced due to estate developments.

“It is a personal promise of mine that I will come back here when we win and make sure these promises are fulfilled,” he said.

Zahid urged the people there not to allow the land to “stay muddied” and instead make a choice that would lead to development.

He also pledged to resolve the land issues concerning Orang Asli communities at Carey Islands should BN win.

“It is enough, we gave them 10 years. They did not fare any better than the previous (BN) government. They have only been reaping benefits of our hard work,” he added.
