IPOH, April 30 — Police are investigating an anonymous letter sent to a worker at SKJT Ladang Malaya in Selama that contained a nude photograph and urged the recipient to vote in the Kamunting state seat.

Selama district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Sabri Saad said the letter did not specify how the recipient should vote.

“The letter was sent via post from Ipoh. It contains some personal details of the victim and also a random naked picture,” he told Malay Mail when contacted.

Mohd Sabri said that the addressee was not politically active.

The letter also did not contain elements of blackmail, he said when adding that no arrests have been made.

“The man had received a similar letter before somewhere in November last year,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for words or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a person.

The contest for the Kamunting seat is a three-way race involving Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid,  PKR’s Muhd Fadhil Nuruddin and PAS’s Ustaz Fakhrudin.
