KUALA NERUS, Oct 20 — A supermarket, said to be in Kuala Terenganu, has disposed off 63.8kg of dried chilli to bring back customer confidence, after pictures of rats in piles of chilli went viral on social site on Monday.

State Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism (KPDNKK) director Azlan Abd Samat said five KPDNKK personnel went to the supermarket to find out the actual situation.

“The pictures went viral on social media in the night. So, early, the next morning we went to the supermarket, and were informed by the management that 63.8kg of chilli stock has been disposed off.

“The management also said they had changed the method of packing new dried chilli, namely, selling them in smaller packets and not in big open boxes as previously,” he told reporters after attending a 2016 Deepavali Festive Season Price Control Scheme here today. — Bernama
