KUANTAN, Aug 6 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) director-general of health services Lt General Datuk Dr Abdul Razak Md Yusoff today announced that the housemanship programme at military hospitals nationwide will begin on January 1 next year.
He said for a start, the programme would see 30 to 40 medical graduates be deployed to do their housemanship at three military hospitals, namely the Tuanku Mizan Hospital in Kuala Lumpur; Terendak Hospital in Melaka and Lumut Hospital in Perak.
“Preparations for the implementation of the programme had begun two years ago with strict supervision from the relevant authorities, including the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).
“So far, the MMC was satisfied with our preparations, facilities and capability to run the programme and we are now awaiting the written approval for policy and administration purposes,” he said.
Abdul Razak said applications for the programmes also came from foreign students of Faculty of Medicine and Defence Health of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM). — Bernama
