KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — Two people were hacked to death while another was left severely wounded after being attacked in front of a pub in the Solaris Dutamas surburb last night.

A group of six men wearing face masks attacked the trio who were sitting outside the pub around 11pm, several news outlets reported today.

National newswire Bernama reported police identified the dead as a male car jockey S. Mogan, 21, a female cashier R. Mythurai, 23.

Mogan and Mythurai sustained head and body wounds and were pronounced dead on arrival at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Another male, a deejay whose name was given only as Allen, was also admitted at the same hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

Bernama also reported Sentul police chief ACP R. Munusamy saying CCTV footage showed the attackers arriving at the pub in two cars and were armed with machetes. There were no CCTVs inside the pub however.

Police have arrested six men in connection with the crime that has been classified as murder and have obtained a one-week remand order to question them.

No witnesses have stepped forward with information to date, the senior policeman added.

Munusamy said initial investigations indicated the attack to be motivated by revenge over a fight that broke out at the pub a while back.
