JOHOR BARU, May 24 ― The police have arrested five members of the “Syahrul Perling” gang, which has been actively carrying out robberies, in two raids, on Thursday (May 19) and early yesterday.
Johor Baru North police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad in a statement here said the five suspects aged between 19 and 21, were arrested at 4.50pm on Thursday and 2.50am today at two houses in Tampoi Indah, Tampoi, and Taman Perling, here.
According to him, the police seized various items in the raids including 43 mobile phones, three vehicles, a fake pistol, a baseball bat, and a knife and machete believed to be obtained and used by the suspects during their activities. He said the police also found two plastic packets containing dried leaves suspected to be ganja from two of the suspects.
“With the arrest of this group, we believe it has solved about 20 street robbery cases against foreigners around Iskandar,” he said, adding that the police were still looking for two members who were at large. ― Bernama
