KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 ― Chuping Meteorological Station in Perlis recorded a temperature reading of over 37 degrees Celsius yesterday due to the hot weather caused by the El Nino phenomenon.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau in a statement said Chuping Meteorological Station recorded a reading of 37.2 degrees Celsius at 4pm.
“Up till Thursday (April 21), three areas recorded more than 10 days without rainfall, namely Kota Baharu (19 days), Machang, Kelantan (19 days) and Kudat, Sabah (11 days).
Meanwhile, Klang and Kuala Selangor, Selangor; Kota Tinggi, Johor; Rompin, Pahang and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recorded between seven to nine days without rainfall.
Madius said cloud seeding was conducted in several areas.
“It resulted in rain in the catchment areas of Bukit Larut, Perak; Bukit Merah and Air Kuning dams, Perak; Sepri dam in Negri Sembilan and Durian Tunggal Dam, Melaka.” ― Bernama
