JERLUN, Jan 27 — Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said he accepts whatever decision involving following the political development in the state and the pressure on him to relinquish his position.
At the same time, he called on the people of Kedah, especially his supporters, to remain calm concerning the current development and to refrain from creating chaos.
He said whatever transpired in the crisis, let the decision be one that was the best for Kedah and the country.
“I’m always ready (come what may)...I’ll leave it to Allah, sooner or later (the change will happen), I believe the truth will prevail,” he said at a community programme in Kampung Sanglang here tonight.
“I’m not afraid of any possible action to be taken against me. I believe everything happens for a reason,” he stressed.
The political atmosphere in Kedah has heated up in the last few days when
Mukhriz came under pressure from several Kedah state assemblymen and members of
Parliament as well as Umno senior state leaders led by Ahmad Bashah who openly voiced they had lost confidence in Mukhriz as Mentri Besar and state Umno Liaison Committee chairman. — Bernama
