GEORGE TOWN, Jan 22 — Two Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) degrees in architecture are now recognised by the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
USM’s Housing, Buildings and Planning Studies Centre dean Prof Dr Aldrin Abdullah said they had just received accreditation from CABE for its BSc HBP (Architecture) and B.Arch degrees.
“The recognition from CABE which was set up in 1925 is important towards ensuring USM can enter into collaborations at the international level in architecture and related fields for better mobility of its students and also for research and innovation,” he said in a statement here today.
CABE has 12 offices in the United Kingdom and Ireland and is opening chapters in Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, West Asia, the United States and the latest in Malaysia.
In another development, USM today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Science and Culture University of Iran.
Speaking to reporters after the signing here, USM vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Omar Osman said the collaboration entailed student exchanges and cooperation in R & D. — Bernama
