KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 ― Taylor’s University said bus bearing its logo that was used to ferry protesters to the “red shirt” rally in the city earlier today was done without its knowledge or approval.
The private university said the bus with its logo was contracted to a third party, Wawasan Sutera, but noted that it was not used to ferry its students to the controversial pro-Malay demonstration in the city centre here today.
“Immediate action has been made to withdraw the use of the bus with our logo,” Taylor’s University said on its Facebook page.
“We regret the unintentional association of Taylor's University with this event,” the university added.
Thousands of Malays clad in red shirts marched in the capital city today in the rally dubbed “Himpunan Maruah Melayu” [Malay Dignity Rally], alternatively named “Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu” [United People’s Rally].
The demonstration has turned unruly as protesters breached police cordons and pushed through into Bukit Bintang.
