GEORGE TOWN, April 16 — Police seized RM2.7 million worth of drugs after busting a drug processing laboratory in Bukit Mertajam last night.
In the 11pm ambush, police found meth oil, heroin and syabu amongst other drug-processing paraphernalia in a house in the central Seberang Perai district.
Three people in the house, including a married couple, were arrested in connection with the case.
“The suspects are aged between 47 and 50 years and one of them had a previous drug-related record,” Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said in a press conference at the Penang police headquarters today.
The police seized 3,760g of WY, 3,500g of meth oil, 1,500g of syabu, 1,040g of heroin, 287g of syabu, 41g of ketamine, an air gun, and drug-processing tools from the house.
The lab is believed to be one of the main illegal drug-processing facilities for the northern region.
It is believed that the lab has been in operation for the last six months.
Following the arrest of the three suspects, they led the police to another house in Simpang Ampat at about 3am where police found 21g of syabu and 40 ecstasy pills.
Along with the drugs, the police also seized four cars and cash, worth a total of RM150,000, from both locations.
The suspects have been remanded until Tuesday.
