GEORGE TOWN, May 16 — An independent candidate in the Bukit Gelugor by-election, Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar today lodged a police report claiming that 330 of his posters and banners that were displayed in the constituency had gone missing.

Mohamed Nabi Bux, 63, said the campaign materials were put up since last Monday and he only realised the disappearance today.

He would also lodge a similar report to the Pulau Pinang Election Commission (EC) soon, he told reporters after lodging a police report at the Bandar Baru police station in Air Itam here today.

Meanwhile a spokesman from the Pulau Pinang Municipal Council said Mohamed Nabi Bux’s banners and posters were brought down as it was found that the independent candidate had used the state government’s logo on his campaign materials without approval.

Pulau Pinang EC acting director Azizal Ahmad, when contacted by Bernama, said he had yet to receive any report on the incident and asked the independent candidate to contact the state EC if he was not satisfied with the action.

“We have an enforcement team to monitor the campaign materials for this by-election and if he uses the state or federal government’s logo without approval, that is an offence,” he said. — Bernama
