KAJANG, May 15 — A man who shot a dog twice using a bow and arrows at a residential area here has left a neighbour who saw the injured animal in fear of her own pets’ wellbeing.
Peggy Au said she witnessed the aftermath in Taman Sinaran here while on her way home from work on Tuesday, and was aghast to see a dog standing in the dark with two arrows protruding from its body.
“No, I do not feel safe… I am afraid my dogs would be in danger,” the 50-year-old woman told The Malay Mail Online when met near her home today.
The businesswoman said she now preferred to keep her dogs in her compound after the attack, as she was afraid to let them out.
Another resident, who wanted to be identified as Kak Yus, said the attack was her first time hearing about such an incident.
The 45-year-old babysitter said that stray dogs were never a problem in the neighbourhood and she even encourages the wards under her care to play with these.
“There will be dogs coming in from the factory in the morning, they leave in the evening,” Yus said. “But they have never attack the kids I am taking care.”
She added that using a bow and arrow to chase a dog away was unjustifiable.

On Tuesday, a dog named Brianna was reportedly shot with two arrows by a man outside his home at here.
The dog was rescued by another resident, who lodged a police report and contacted local canine welfare group Malaysia Dogs Deserve Better that is now fostering Brianna.
The police say they are investigating the case under Section 429 of the Penal Code pertaining to mischief towards animals.
