KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 — Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, survived a head-on collision with another car in a minor road accident tonight that left the former with a fractured arm.
“Alhamdullilah he is safe and does not require surgery,” PKR director of communications Fahmi Fadzil said in a statement.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is also PKR president, escaped unhurt in the 10pm, Fahmi told The Malay Mail Online when contacted.
“The doctors have cleared her of any injury,” Fahmi said.
Both had undergone physical examination at the nearby Damansara Specialist Medical Centre.
He added that the couple's driver and bodyguard, who were both in the same car, were also unscathed, as was the driver of the other vehicle.
According to Fahmi, the quartet were heading home to Segambut after dinner in the upscale neighbourhood of Desa Sri Hartamas, when their car collided head-on with another, bearing a Malacca-registered plate, that had wrongly entered their lane.
