KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Twenty-eight bodies of victims of the bus that plunged into a ravine at Genting Highlands on Wednesday have been claimed by family members so far, according to a spokeswoman for Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
She said only nine bodies had yet to be claimed including two that had yet to be identified.
“Two bodies, namely that of a South Korean national, Kim Do-Ngo, and that of Tengku Khairul Anuar Tengku Alias, were claimed by the South Korean Embassy and the family respectively at about 9am today,” the spokeswoman said.
Yesterday, HKL said two bodies, a Chinese-looking man and a woman, believed to be an African national, had yet to be identified, let alone claimed by any quarters.
“Although their physical appearance and clothing had been mentioned in the media, no response on these two bodies has been received so far,” the spokeswoman said.
The other bodies yet to be claimed are that of Arthur Masih andSukhvir Singh from India; Prem Bahadur Budha Magar and Nagendra Rai (Nepal); Bhuiyan Rafique Ali (Canadian national from Bangladesh); and Kamonthip Piamthananurak and Kritravee Piamthananurak (Thailand).
Those with information about their family members or next-of-kin are requested to come to the HKL Forensic Department.
HKL has so far issued a list of 35 names of the victims killed in the accident.
In the incident on Wednesday, the bus plunged into a 60-metre ravine at Km3.5 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur, killing 37 people including the bus driver, while 16 others were injured. — Bernama
