JAKARTA, July 30 – A Malaysian on death row for a drug offence in the Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, has been charged with selling drug in the prison.

The suspect was sentenced to death in 2012 for trafficking in 350kg of drug. While in prison, he was said to have five handphones.

He was charged with another prisoner currently serving a four and a half years’ jail and five other people, a local media reported Tuesday.

The police also seized 10.576kg of syabu and 500 ecstasy pills, all worth Rp22 billion, from them.

News on the Malaysian involvement followed a controversy on a drug scandal in the Cipinang Prison which was exposed by a model of an adult magazine.

The model claimed that she often went to the Cipinang Prison to have sex with her lover, a prisoner there, and they were free to take drug in the prison. – Bernama
