LONDON, Nov 12 — In the age of the Internet of Things, a cocktail shaker connected to a smartphone can allow a novice to create beverages worthy of expert mixologists. Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, the B4RM4N uses connected technology and sensors to measure ingredients and shaking times with unprecedented accuracy, ensuring the perfect cocktail every time.
With the B4RM4N, even inexperienced cocktail enthusiasts can impress their guests with flawless mixed drinks. Users simply download the dedicated app to their smartphone (iOS or Android), which connects to the shaker by Bluetooth. Next, they specify the desired serving size and select a cocktail recipe from the ones available on the app.
Using multiple sensors, the shaker detects the exact amount of each ingredient added and, with sound and flashing LED lights, tells the mixologist when to stop pouring. For the final step, the app analyzes data from the shaker's accelerometer to help the mixologist achieve the perfect shaking rate.
The B4RM4N, which took just over a year to develop, is currently campaigning to fund the start of manufacturing. For a pledge of US$99 (RM330) or more, backers can reserve one of the first B4RM4N shakers, which are expected to ship in June 2015 if the crowdfunding campaign is successful. The campaign is set to continue until December 5. — AFP-Relaxnews
