LONDON, July 11 — Australian airline Qantas has been given the distinction of boasting the best airline wine list in the world.

Publication The World of Fine Wine in its inaugural World’s Best Wine Lists awards, said the Aussie carrier emerged the clear and “obvious” winner for going further than other airlines with its depth of choice and for curating a selection of the best local winemakers.

Flight attendants working Qantas First and Business Class, for instance, undergo extensive wine training as part of the airline’s Sommeliers in the Sky programme.

Wines and champagnes have been curated to be paired with celebrity Australian chef Neil Perry’s menu, which includes an eight-course tasting menu or a la carte offering.

Qantas is no stranger to wine awards. It is a repeat winner of Cellar in the Sky Awards. In the last edition of the awards held earlier this year, the carrier took home five of the 13 awards, including the gold medal for Best First Class Cellar. — AFP-Relaxnews
