LOS ANGELES, Jan 22 — It costs half as much as buying a licensed iOS7 control pad, but you’ll need to jailbreak your device to make it work.

A US$1.99 (RM6.60) app called “Controllers for All,” free utility “SixPair” and a PS3 (or PS4) controller can be linked up to get the controller working with any iOS7 device and the 180-odd titles supporting the Made For iPhone control pad initiative.

Unearthed by iDownloadBlog and as noted by TouchArcade, it’s a workaround intended for jail-broken devices -- hence the app’s availability on unofficial app market ModMyi — and not something that works with unmodified off-the-shelf units.

But for those who have gone ahead and unlocked their phones, the two apps created by coder Ori Kadosh provide a way to tether the Bluetooth game pad with devices running Apple’s latest mobile software.

For the rest of us, the Logitech PowerShell, Moga Ace Power, and (soon) SteelSeries Stratus provide an Apple-supported method that doesn’t require any extra fiddling. — AFP Relaxnews
