SAN FRANCISCO, March 8 — “We need all hands on deck,” says one girl involved with Microsoft’s “Make What’s Next” campaign.

Software and technology company Microsoft is pushing for greater involvement in science, medicine and engineering by challenging girls to stay in STEM and change the world.

Several ambitious, dedicated girls are shown part of Microsoft’s vision for the future of science, technology, engineering and math education via its augmented reality headset, HoloLens.

In response to the statement that “only 6.7per cent of women graduate [US universities] with STEM degrees,” the girls suggest, with determination, that things can change, and need to change. “We need all hands on deck right now,” one says.

Microsoft and professional social network LinkedIn are partnering on a Career Explorer for MakeWhatsNext.com, while National Geographic is on board for a Facebook Live event on March 18, which will respond to questions from customers in half a dozen US Microsoft Stores.
