LOS ANGELES, Jan 18 — Universal has released the first trailer for upcoming comedy Dear Dictator that stars Michael Caine, Katie Holmes and Odeya Rush.

The film centres on Tatiana Mills (Rush), a rebellious American teenager whose assignment to write to someone she looks up to results in her establishing a pen pal relationship with General Anton Vincent (Caine), dictator of a British-Caribbean island nation.

After Vincent is overthrown by his people, he seeks refuge with his young friend and her mother (Holmes)

The synopsis of the film reads: “Dear Dictator focuses on Tatiana (Rush), a misfit teen, who begins writing letters to a notorious British-Caribbean dictator, General Anton Vincent, played with great panache by the legendary Sir Michael Caine. When Vincent is overthrown in a coup, he flees to Tatiana’s home, which she shares with her single mum (Holmes). While hiding out in suburbia, Anton teaches the teen how to start her own high school revolution by taking down the popular kids and grabbing all the power for herself!”
