LOS ANGELES, June 13 ― Shock rocker Marilyn Manson was the talk of the Kerrang! Awards in London on Thursday (June 11) as he was honoured for his lifetime achievement in music.

The American star and four-time Grammy nominee, real name Brian Warner, is known for his controversial stage persona and hard-living lifestyle.

Asked if, aged 46, he had been tamed, he held up his fist covered in scratches and said: “I don't drink absinthe anymore. Only because it has too much sugar in it, so it made me too hyper, I need to calm down, so I just switched to marijuana and vodka, yeah, that's sober for me.”

Alice Cooper was honoured with the Kerrang! legend award.

Other winners included veteran British rockers Judas Priest who were given the Inspiration Award for a career that dates back to the late 1960s. ― Reuters
