KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 ― Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-afternoon as buying interspersed with selling in heavyweight stocks, dealers said.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 0.98 of a point to 1,388.31 from 1,387.33 at yesterday’s close.

The key index opened 0.09 of a point easier at 1,387.24 this morning.

However, the broader market was negative as decliners surpassed gainers 503 to 258, while 375 counters were unchanged, 1,147 untraded and 16 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.99 billion units worth RM1.01 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare shed one sen to RM8.64 and RM5.91 respectively, Public Bank added one sen to RM3.88, CIMB rose seven sen to RM5.15, while Tenaga Nasional was flat at RM9.22.

Of the actives, Sarawak Consolidated improved one sen to 43 sen, RGB International gained 2.5 sen to 32 sen, YTL fell 7.5 sen to 89 sen while Tanco and Borneo Oil were flat at 50.5 sen and 1.5 sen respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 25.36 points lower at 10,207.45, the FBMT 100 Index lost 24.34 points to 9,906.75, the FBM Emas Shariah Index dipped 44.26 points to 10,514.63, the FBM 70 index dropped 165.58 points to 13,383.50 and the FBM ACE Index shaved 20.48 points to 5,107.95.

Sector-wise, the Energy Index erased 6.49 points to 782.54, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.78 of a point to 158.55, the Plantation Index gave up 13.81 points to 6,740.90 but the Financial Services Index rose 45.52 points to 15,318.74. ― Bernama
