KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia slipped into the red at mid-morning today, weighed on by losses in selected blue chips, dealers said.

At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.84 points lower at 1,650.03 from Monday's close of 1,653.87.

The index opened 0.29 of a point easier at 1,653.58.       

Market breadth was negative as decliners led gainers 281 to 204, while 327 counters were unchanged, 909 untraded and 18 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 465.63 million shares worth RM311.72 million.              

Topping the losers list was Bousted Holdings which shed 22 sen to RM2.05.         

Among the top losers were F&N which fell 18 sen to RM26.02, Rapid Synergy dropped 17 sen to RM5.80, PPB Group eased 12 sen to RM16.32, and Maxis contracted 11 sen to RM5.98.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index lost 16.45 points to 11,512.5, the FBMT100 Index decreased 19.49 points to 11,219.09, and the FBM Emas Syariah Index shed 25.66 points to 12,064.47.

The FBM 70 rose 1.76 points to 12,975.48 and the FBM Ace gained 20.68 points to 5,221.16.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index appreciated 6.38 points to 3,127.56, while the Plantation Index declined 7.66 points to 7,567.48, and the Finance Index decreased 6.51 points to 14,276.09.

Of the heavyweights, TNB lost four sen to RM14.14, Petronas Chemicals shed seven sen to RM6.56 and Axiata lost six sen to RM5.44.

Meanwhile, Public Bank increased eight sen to RM19.42, while Maybank and IHH Healthcare were flat at RM8.19 and RM6.64, respectively.

Among actives, AirAsia X fell half-a-sen to 38.5 sen, while Vivocom and Sanichi were flat at 15.5 sen and 17 sen, respectively.

Meanwhile, AirAsia added one sen to RM2.64 and Iris Corp rose half-a-sen to 13.5 sen. ― Bernama
