KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Maxis Bhd today announced that Augustus Ralph Marshall, 63, has tendered his resignation as the telecommunication company’s Non-Executive Director.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the company cited change in nominee directors of Maxis Communications Bhd, the majority shareholder of Maxis Bhd, as the reason for Marshall stepping down.

He has more than 30 years of experience in financial and general management and is executive director of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd (UTSB), the Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Astro Holdings Sdn Bhd.

Marshall is also Non-Independent Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd and an Executive Director of Tanjong Public Ltd Company, in which UTSB has significant interests.

He also serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several other companies in which UTSB also has significant interests such as Maxis Communications Bhd and Johnston Press Plc. 

In addition, Marshall is also Director, in an independent non-executive capacity, and Chairman of the audit committee of KLCC Property Holdings Bhd, Non-Executive Director of MEASAT Global Bhd and KLCC REIT Management Sdn Bhd.

Maxis shares closed 15 sen lower at RM6.51 today.— Bernama
