KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session in positive territory today amid mixed performance of regional bourses as buying emerged in selected heavyweights stocks, dealers said.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.87 points to 1,819.02, after hovering between 1,813.90 and 1,820.07, throughout the morning session.
TNB was the top contributor to the local benchmark index, gaining 12 sen or 1.01 per cent to RM11.98, followed by Genting Bhd, which added eight sen to RM10.14.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index went up 8.71 points to 16,572.84, the Plantation Index rose 14.86 points to 8,544.41 while the Industrial Index eased 0.96 of a point to 3,105.56.
The FBM Emas Index earned 0.36 of a point to 12,559.44, the FBMT100 Index added 13.39 points to 12,265.17, the FBM 70 advanced 17.89 points to 13,815.63 and the FBM Ace jumped 57.14 points to 6,285.49.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 401 to 249, with 317 counters unchanged, 641 untraded and 19 others suspended.
Turnover totalled 1.2 billion shares worth RM971.34 million.
Among actives, Hubline earned half-a-sen to six sen, Iris Corp improved 2.5 sen to 51.5 sen, PDZ Holdings gained one sen to 15.5 sen while Minetech was flat at 29 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose three sen to RM9.79, Sime Darby was three sen higher at RM9.02 while CIMB and Axiata were at RM7.09 and RM6.55, respectively. — Bernama
