KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 — Kellogg Company, which is investing US$130 million (RM428.2 million) in a new manufacturing facility in Malaysia, aims to expand its supply chain capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
The company said the new facility, located in Bandar Enstek, Negri Sembilan, would initially create employment opportunities for over 300 people.
The facility’s ground-breaking was performed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The construction for the new facility would be home to the manufacturing of halal certified Pringles, and in the future, home to the manufacturing of halal certified Kellogg’s brand snack food in the Asia-Pacific.
Kellogg Company Asia-Pacific President Amit Banati said the facility represented a key milestone in the company’s ambition to become a global snacks player, enabling it to better deliver high-quality snack food to customers in the Asia-Pacific market.
“This is a region for which we have ambitious growth targets and expanding our supply chain capability is a big step towards ensuring that we have a global footprint in our snacks business,” he added.
Kellogg Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of ready-to-eat breakfast cereals and second largest producer of savoury snacks, cookies and crackers, expects the new state-of-the-art facility to be operational from mid-2015. — Bernama
