KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said that the party takes full responsibility of the outcome of the six state elections after its candidates’ failure to secure any seats.

Syed Saddiq said Muda’s participation in the state elections was a necessary step to build a platform featuring new leaders to demonstrate their ideals to the Malaysian public.

“We would like to start by thanking every vote that was given to us, and we would like to reiterate that we will respect the mandate of the people.

“This is Muda’s first foray going solo and it was never going to be easy, this is something that we were quite aware of from the beginning.

“This is a very humbling experience for us and I am proud of each of our candidates,” he said in a statement.

Syed Saddiq said the party will continue to work harder to reiterate its commitment to speak up about wrongdoings and be the check and balance to both the federal and state governments.

Muda fielded 20 candidates in total, comprising 10 men and 10 women for the six state elections.
